Spotify Transitions Select Audiobook Distribution Services to INaudio

The future is bright for audiobooks on Spotify: More and more people around the world are listening to the format each day, which means there’s more opportunity than ever for authors and publishers to have their works heard.

Our goal at Spotify is to bring our partners powerful tools and resources to reach their maximum potential — by providing more ways to be discovered, grow and understand their audience, and to connect more authentically with new readers and fans.

We also know that publishers and authors need to have tools to reach listeners everywhere — something that we’ve provided with our audiobook distribution services since our acquisition of Findaway. Spotify remains a champion for an open ecosystem, and we’re evolving our approach for how authors and publishers can distribute their audiobooks on retailers other than Spotify as we invest in our proprietary solution, Spotify for Authors.

The next chapter for audiobook distribution

On August 1, 2025, we're transitioning our audiobook distribution services for retailers other than Spotify to INaudio, a new company dedicated to fostering a wide audiobook distribution ecosystem. Led by experienced industry leaders, INaudio will focus on building critical technologies and partnerships that benefit the entire audiobook ecosystem. For distribution on Spotify, publishers and independent authors can use the publishing tools available in Spotify for Authors.

Authors, publishers, and retailers have been communicated specific instructions on what this means for their audiobook distribution based on their specific arrangement, and we’re working hard to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible.

We’ve long believed that wide distribution benefits the entire audiobook industry, and we’ll continue to be champions for this model by partnering with INaudio. We look forward to a successful transition and to embarking on this next chapter with our partners globally.
